Mr. Eugene Khoo Yean Shern is a partner of the firm whom specializes in civil and commercial litigation.
Mr. Eugene primarily handles contentious matters and his areas of practice include disputes in commercial law, family law, tort law such as defamation and etc., trademark & copyright law, land law, employment law, tenancy contracts, bankruptcy & corporate insolvency, judicial review, debt recovery, wills, probate & administration of estate, enforcement proceedings and appellate matters.
Recognised as a Kuala Lumpur lawyer with proven track record, Mr. Eugene has acted as lead counsel and co-counsel in numerous cases at all levels of court—from the lower courts up to the Court of Appeal and Federal Court—some of which have been reported in leading law journals such as the Current Law Journal (CLJ) and the Malayan Law Journal (MLJ).
During his legal practice, Mr. Eugene has contributed his legal commentary and cases update as one of the contributing editors in the Malaysian Civil Procedure 2024 (Volume 1).
During his legal practice, Mr. Eugene was also invited and had presided as guest judge at the Brickfields Asia College Noval Moot Court Competition.
Mr. Eugene read law at the Multimedia University (MMU) and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree in 2017. He then commenced his pupillage at Messrs Stanley Chang & Partners and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar on 1st March 2018.
Upon his admission to the Bar, Mr. Eugene had immediately commenced his legal practice at Messrs Ismail Sabri Wee & Wong as legal associate in the litigation department before joining Messrs Yeoh Shim Siow & Lay Kuan.
Mr. Eugene is proficient in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin language. Additionally, he is also able to converse in the Cantonese and Hokkien dialects.
